Outdoor facility (summer)

Along the banks of the Tanana River, the outdoor facility has a 125 foot runway aligned with evening tailwinds and beautiful views of the Alaska Range (Mt. Debra, Mt. Hayes, and Hess Mountain).

David and Tori Brannan are the owners of the Alaska Pole Vault Club, which they built as a way to give back to the vaulting community.

Our ceiling was really limited by winter, so we built an indoor facility — the Salcha Dome. They have the Anchorage Dome, so we figured we’d have a Salcha Dome.

Our Programs

The Alaska Pole Vault Club is privately owned, operated, and insured. This is a year-round, official USATF track and field club, with small intermissions breaks for recovery. Our coaches have experience working with young athletes and have completed background checks. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of the pole vault in a safe environment. No experience is necessary and we encourage all to give the sport a try.

First timer

The first timer program allows you to try pole vaulting in a safe environment with expert instruction. We will guide you through all the steps necessary to get over your first bar - all at no expense to you. It is our hope that you will want to continue vaulting!

Beginner

We work with our beginners 2x per week. Instruction includes sand vaulting, running and vaulting drills, basic gymnastics, and learning how to vault over a crossbar. We have a large selection of poles for beginners to use.

Intermediate

We work with our intermediate vaulters 3x a week. In addition to drills and gymnastics, we add event-specific exercises to build core strength and agility. Our intermediate vaulters are ready for in-house competitions.

Advanced

We work with serious athletes at least 4x a week. We offer serious athletes a safe place to train, vault, and compete. As part of the elite team, athletes will travel as a team to local, national, and international competitions.

Get Involved

Perhaps you feel as we do - that volunteerism is an opportunity to unite the broader community. There is no doubt the Alaska Pole Vault Club is a special place where every moment is a chance to learn from one another, to grow, and to become stronger. If you are a like minded person, there are many ways to help our athletes succeed.
